How do I pick a color from an image?
Choose, drop, or paste an image, then click the pixel you want. On a touch screen, drag one finger to preview colors and lift to select. ColorToolset shows copy-ready color values immediately.
How can I get a HEX color code from a photo or screenshot?
Open the photo or screenshot and select a pixel. The result includes six-digit HEX and eight-digit HEX8 values, plus RGB, RGBA, HSL, and HSV. Use the Copy button beside the format you need.
How does ColorToolset identify a color name?
The selected sRGB color is compared with the standard CSS named-color set. Exact matches use the CSS name directly; other colors show the nearest name using perceptual OKLab distance.
Which image formats and sources are supported?
You can use JPEG, PNG, and WebP files, including photos and screenshots. Desktop browsers also support drag and drop and system paste. HEIC and HEIF files are not decoded directly, so convert them to JPEG, PNG, or WebP first if your browser does not do that automatically.
Can I find multiple colors in one image?
Yes. The dominant-color palette extracts up to six distinct colors from the whole image. Copy one palette color or export the complete set as CSS custom properties.
Why can a color value differ slightly from another app?
ColorToolset samples through an sRGB browser canvas. Display P3 conversion, browser color management, large-image downscaling, and rounding around semi-transparent pixels can produce small differences. CMYK is an approximate conversion from screen RGB, not a printer profile.
Is my image private?
Yes. Images are decoded and sampled locally in your browser and are never uploaded to ColorToolset. Analytics never receive your image, filename, pixel coordinates, or color values. Read the privacy page for details.
